BRIEFS: Deputies make arrests
Four people were arrested Friday night at a DUI checkpoint set up by the Sheriff's Office on Edgewater Drive at Lake View Boulevard in Punta Gorda.
A top Hillsborough County deputy sheriff has been fired, and officials said his pending cases might be tainted after an internal investigation showed he might have wrongfully arrested drivers.
